Edathua Perunnal

Established in 1810, the church is dedicated to St. George. The massive shrine on the banks of the river Pamba is modelled on the medieval churches of Europe. The perunal or the festival at Edathua commences with the Kodiyettam (flag hoisting ceremony) on the 27th of April. The idol of St. George is placed on the central dais of the basilica during the festival days.

Nearest airport: Cochin International Airport, about 85 km from Alappuzha.
