The annual ten-day Theyyam festival held at Kanathoor Nalvar Bhoothasthanam is a grand affair showcasing an array of theyyams like Elayor theyyam, Chamundi theyyam, Panchoorla theyyam, Muthor theyyam etc. Theyyam, the colourful ritual dance of Kerala, is one of the oldest folk art forms of India. It incorporates dance, mime and music, and enshrines the rudiments of ancient tribal cultures, which attached great importance to the worship of heroes and ancestral spirits.

Getting there:
By road: Every half an hour, there is a bus from Kasaragod to Kanathoor.
Nearest railway station: Kasaragod, about 20 kms away.
Nearest airport: Mangalore about 50 kms away from Kasaragod.
